My philosophy of music is to demonstrate to all people the important role that music has in the
enrichment of humanity. Students need to experience what it is like to perform in an ensemble, and how
that performance experience can be applied to other real world activities. These performances require a
large number of performers. It is therefore my primary mission to create an equally qualitative and
quantitative band program at my school. I shall do so by implementing the following goals for next year.
1. Since large ensembles are necessary for the proper balance and blend, it is my goal to increase
the size of the band by no less than half of its original membership.
2. To assure that the music is not being watered down to meet the level of the performers,
all music performed will be rated at a grade four or higher.
3. To ensure the continued return of experienced performers, a scholarship fund will be
set up and available to any member who graduates from the program. .
4. To foster individual learning outside of regular classroom instruction, students will be
provided with the funds to attend the clinics and festivals of their choice.
